How GoobFarms handles your data

🔓 No personal data required. We don't collect emails, names, phone numbers, or payment card details.
🎭 Pseudonymous by design. Your wallet address and optional username are the only identifiers.
🙋 Everything is voluntary. Username, X handle, profile picture — all optional, all your choice.
🔗 On-chain transparency. Key game actions are recorded on ApeChain for public verification.
🚫 No tracking or ads. We don't sell your data or use third-party tracking cookies.
🗑️ You're in control. Contact us anytime to request data deletion.

1. Who We Are

GoobFarms is a browser-based farming and trading game built on ApeChain. We're a small indie team focused on making fun games, not harvesting personal data.

2. What Data We Collect

We believe in minimal data collection. Here's exactly what we store:

3. How We Use Your Data

Gameplay: To run the game, track your progress, and provide features like leaderboards and achievements.
NFT Gating: To verify NFT ownership and unlock premium features for holders.
Purchases: To credit Energy or MACPASS purchases made on-chain to your account.
Notifications: To send push notifications (if you opt in) when crops or pickles are ready.
Support: To help resolve issues and investigate potential abuse or exploits.
On-Chain Records: Key game actions are recorded on ApeChain for transparency and auditability.

4. Who We Share Data With

We do not sell your data. Ever.

The following is publicly visible by design:

Wallet addresses (abbreviated on leaderboards)
Usernames (if set)
X handles (if set)
Profile pictures
Team membership
Leaderboard rankings and stats
Entries (social notes) you post
On-chain game actions via the Ledger

Service Providers

We use minimal third-party services:

Render: Cloud hosting for our backend servers (US-based).
Alchemy / Goldsky: Blockchain RPC and indexing services to read on-chain data.
Glyph: Wallet authentication provider — they handle the wallet connection, we receive only the public address.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose data if required by law or to protect against fraud, abuse, or illegal activity.

5. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS with TLS encryption.
Database access is restricted and requires authentication.
IP addresses are hashed before storage (we don't store your actual IP).
Session tokens expire and are regularly rotated.
We never store private keys — wallet signing happens client-side through your wallet provider.

6. Data Retention

Game Data: Retained while your account exists and the game operates.
Session Tokens: Expire after 30 days of inactivity.
Transaction Logs: Retained indefinitely for game integrity and leaderboard accuracy.
On-Chain Data: Permanent — blockchain records cannot be deleted.

7. Your Rights & Choices

Access Your Data

You can view most of your data directly in the game (profile, stats, transaction history). For a complete export, contact us.

Update Your Data

You can change your profile picture and X handle anytime. Usernames are permanent once set.

Delete Your Data

On-chain records (blockchain) cannot be deleted.
Anonymized aggregate data may be retained for game balance analysis.
Entries (posts) may be deleted or anonymized upon request.

Opt Out of Notifications

You can disable push notifications anytime in the game settings or through your browser settings.

8. Cookies & Local Storage

We use minimal browser storage:

Session Token: Stored in localStorage to keep you logged in.
Game Settings: Preferences like music volume and UI settings stored locally.
No Tracking Cookies: We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking.

9. Children's Privacy

GoobFarms is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided data to us, please contact us immediately.

10. International Users

Our servers are located in the United States. By using GoobFarms, you consent to data processing in the US. We aim to comply with applicable privacy laws including GDPR for EU users.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the game evolves. Significant changes will be announced in our Discord and/or in-game. The "Last Updated" date at the top indicates when this policy was last revised.
